Browser Support Info

On the following pages are browser support charts that I put together mostly because although there are plenty of support charts, there are rarely ones that combine all of the elements together that I was able to compile here. Instead of concentrating on which elements of different web technologies or web design standards each browser is able to render, I concentrated on which of the technology versions (CSS1 or DOM level, etc.) each browser is supposed to comply with. This by all means does not mean that a particular browser actually renders technologies at the level that they are proported to, it simply means that according to web design sources, and from the browser manufacturers themselves, the technology version number listed is the closest version that that browser is supposed to be able to render.

There is plenty of missing information here and I will continue to add to these charts as time permits. I hope that others will at least get more of an idea on the smorgasborg of browser rendering characteristics and maybe find these charts useful. I have tried to provide credits for the sources of the information contained here, but I apologize ahead of time if there is anything here that has not been adequately credited.

If you have questions, concerns, corrections, additions, or complaints, please feel free to contact me at

Layout design is based on Webmonkey.com's browser support charts, except that I converted it to CSS.
Sources:

Webmonkey.com - lots and lots of good info
Index DOT html - Good breakdown of browser version histories
www.mozilla.org - Mozilla has a lot of web developer info well beyond just for their browser
Quirksmode - By far the most comprehensive and best put together site on subject of browser support.
psychedelix.com - 3 pages of more user-agent strings than you knew existed. (Still not complete)
CodeBitch (macedition.com) - info on Mac support
Netscape devedge - includes the original MasterGrid charts, plus more
www.teacherjohn.com - lots of resources, links, tutorials. A former teacher of mine

Note: Information here is not fully complete and will be added to as time permits
